Penni Jo auditioned for The Voice of Germany in 2018. Choosing to be different, she sang Tom Traubert’s Blues from Tom Waits in the open audition in Frankfurt. The production team loved the interpretation and she sang the same song in the Blind Auditions. Her raw performance of the text moved each judge, and Mark Forster welcomed her to his team. The other three judges – Yvonne Catterfield, Mischi and Smudo from Die Fantastische Vier, and Michael Patrick Kelly – each expressed regret that they could not take her on their team as their teams were full.
