I remember being really upset about climate change when I was a teenager. Acid rain, the rain forests, endangered species, all of those topics were so much talked about in my school and community. And at some point I saw a comedian talking about “destroying the planet”. He said something to the effect of – “Destroying the planet? We can’t destroy the planet, all we can do is make it impossible for US to live here!”
And I found that really amusing somehow. So this is my “dear John” letter from Mother Earth to all of the nice little people that used to live on her.
Lyrics “Different Colored Trees”
It’s not so bad in the grand scheme of things
And no one lives forever
It’s so much easier to let it go
one straight shot into heaven
I won’t resist when they come for me
I’ll swing and twist for eternity
I ache from shocking at the knocking of my knees
The screaming of the birds blots out the dying of the bees
Got to find people that are easier to please
some different colored sky
some different colored trees
Well let’s look on the bright side
The sun’ll come out tomorrow
and all your problems will melt away
No time for worries or sorrow
I won’t resist when they come for me
I’ll swing and twist for eternity
The screaming of the birds blots out the dying of the bees
Got to find people that are easier to please
some different colored sky
some different colored trees
My happy ever after
All my angels surround me
I miss the charm of their pretty smiles
Leave me better than you found me
I won’t resist when they come for me
I’ll swing and twist for eternity
The screaming of the birds blots out the dying of the bees
Got to find people that are easier to please
some different colored sky
some different colored trees
